Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Water Resources announced a plan to expand the construction of water harvesting dams, while revealing efforts to preserve water storage and meet the requirements of the coming seasons and a major campaign to rehabilitate storage facilities.
Director General of the Ministry's General Authority for Dams and Reservoirs, Ali Radhi, said, "The Ministry has prepared a major plan to expand the construction of water harvesting dams, which are small dams," stressing "the effort to benefit from the water that comes through torrents and rain."
He pointed out "the importance of these dams in replenishing groundwater, settling villages, and providing water for some crops and watering animals," noting that "there is a major campaign supported by the central government to provide allocations for the rehabilitation of large storage facilities."
He explained, "The storage facilities in general are witnessing a stable and safe technical condition due to the continuity of maintenance work," noting that "the technical indicators of the Mosul Dam are good and indicate the stability of the dam."
He continued, "We are working to preserve and increase water storage in conjunction with meeting the requirements of the coming seasons, especially the upcoming summer season, within a well-thought-out plan."
