    Shafaq News/ Today, Tuesday, the Federal Supreme Court issued a state order regarding the system for registering and approving candidate lists for the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections No. (7) of 2024.
    A statement issued by the Federal Supreme Court and received by Shafaq News Agency stated: “This day, corresponding to 5/7/2024, the Federal Supreme Court considered the request submitted by the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region / Iraq, including the issuance of a state order in the case numbered (126 / Federal / 2024) until the case is decided.”
     The statement added; The court “decided to stop the implementation of Clause (Second) of Article (2) of the system for registering and approving candidate lists for the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections No. (7) of 2024, which stipulates ((Second: The Kurdistan Regional Parliament consists of (100) seats distributed In the following electoral districts: - Erbil Governorate/ (34) seats - Sulaymaniyah Governorate/ (38) seats - Dohuk Governorate/ (25) seats - Halabja Governorate/ (3) seats.)) until the lawsuit is resolved in order to avoid Its implementation will have consequences that will be difficult to remedy in the future.”
    This decision came after a lawsuit filed by the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, in which he demanded that the Commission’s procedures regarding the Kurdistan Regional elections be stopped.
