Today, Wednesday (May 8, 2024), the Ministry of Finance decided to send the April salary to the Kurdistan Region.
An informed source told “Baghdad Today” that “the Federal Ministry of Finance decided to send the salary for the month of April to the Kurdistan region,” noting that “the lists sent for the salaries of employees in the region are for one million and 217 thousand employees, and the salaries for the month of April are 956 billion dinars, according to the information".
He explained that "what Baghdad sent this month was approximately 920 billion dinars, and that the amount sent did not include the amounts of promotions and bonuses because they had not been sent by the regional government yet."
Earlier, an official source revealed the reason for the federal government’s failure to send April salaries to employees of the Kurdistan region, while indicating that Baghdad did not know the reason for the region’s demand to increase salary amounts .
The source told "Baghdad Today", "The regional government, with official lists, demanded salaries for the months of January, February, and March in the amount of 913 billion dinars," indicating that "the Federal Ministry of Finance disbursed them, but the Ministry of Finance and Economy in the Kurdistan Government demanded 969 billion." dinars in salaries on the list of employees for the month of April, a difference of 56 billion from the salaries of other months . ”
He added, "It is not yet known why this amount has increased, even though it is not used for employee promotions and there are no employee promotions in the region currently . "
He continued, "When asked by the Kurdish technical delegation that visited Baghdad a few days ago, it did not have any answer that would convince the Federal Ministry of Finance about the increase in the April salaries list, and therefore the Ministry of Finance has refrained to this day from disbursing April salaries on those lists."
