The Ministry of Transport confirmed today, Saturday, the start of concrete layer cladding work for the road project linking the city of Al-Faw and the city of Umm Qasr in Basra Governorate, as part of the Grand Al-Faw Port projects that enjoy great support from the Prime Minister, Engineer Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, and under the direct supervision of the Minister. Mr. Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi.
A statement from the media office of the Ministry of Transport, received by Mawazine News, stated, “The work of cladding the concrete layer - before asphalt - has begun for the highway project linking the cities of Al-Faw and Umm Qasr in Basra Governorate, indicating that the road extends 62 km from the port of Al-Faw towards the submerged tunnel.” Then to the Svan Road area, and then the international highway, which passes through all the governorates.”
The statement confirmed, "The road has now become passable as it contains layers of space, through which goods will be transported from the port of Al-Faw towards Turkey and then Europe, indicating that the completion stages of this project have reached a higher percentage than planned."
The statement pointed out that "high specifications were relied upon by stacking a group of layers of compressed space to make it bear various weights."
The statement indicated that the road was filled with military waste and was removed, and the old soil was removed and replaced with compressed space.
