Today, Saturday (September 16, 2023), Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani issued a number of directives regarding the “Development Road” project during the third meeting of the Supreme Committee for its implementation.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office said, “Al-Sudani chaired the third meeting of the Supreme Committee for Implementing the Development Road Project, during which the extent of the impact of international road projects, to be implemented in the region, on the Development Road Project was discussed, and the project work strategy and economic model presented by the advisory team were discussed.” scheduled to be contracted.
According to the statement, the Prime Minister directed the Ministries of Transport and the Board of Advisors to “prepare a mechanism for contracting with the World Bank to be a partner in auditing the project designs prepared by the Italian consultant,” stressing “the necessity of launching the first step of implementation, after developing strategies and clarifying the project’s ideas to the contributing countries.” In it,” stressing “the importance of reflecting the project’s impact on various activities in Iraq, from the economic, industrial, service, and social aspects.”
He stated that "the development road project will provide an integrated transportation network, and will be a global marketing gateway for the products of the industrial cities that will be established on the road, in addition to creating new investment growth poles."
