Shafaq News/ Iranian Defense Minister, Brigadier General Mohammad Al-Reza Ashtiani, stressed on Sunday that his country’s agreement concluded with Iraq to disarm Kurdish groups and parties opposed to the Tehran regime and present in the Kurdistan Region will not be extended.
Official Iranian media quoted Brigadier General Ashtiani as saying: “There is no extension of the specified deadline, and we will take measures based on the agreement we reached at the appropriate time.”
Regarding the measures taken by the Iraqi side so far, the Iranian Defense Minister explained, “Some work has been completed, and we will evaluate the matter in the last hours and make our decision based on this evaluation.”

It is noteworthy that the Deputy Chief of Operations Affairs in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Brigadier General Abbas Nilfroshan, threatened on September 9, in a statement to the Iranian Tasnim Agency, that “September 19 is the end of the deadline set for Iraq to disarm armed groups.” If they do not fulfill their obligations, we will return to the previous situation and we are forced to defend the interests of the Iranian people.”
On Wednesday, September 13, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stated the Iraqi side’s commitment to the security agreement concluded between the two sides, and the removal of anti-regime Kurdish groups and parties in Tehran from the borders adjacent to the two countries.
In previous times, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard bombed sites in the Kurdistan Region and said at the time that it targeted Kurdish armed groups that threatened Iranian security.
