A government official confirmed, on Tuesday, that the housing sector will acquire half of Diyala’s investments during 2023.

The mayor of Baquba District, Abdullah Al-Hayali, said in an interview with Al-Ma’louma, “The stability of the security situation has provided important opportunities in attracting investments in various sectors, especially housing, which has become the most active, especially with an increasing demand for new units in light of a stifling housing crisis that has been worsening for many years.”
He added, “Half of the investment opportunities granted during 2023 were directly to the housing sector.”
He continued, “There are three reasons behind investors’ interest in building complexes, the most prominent of which is the presence of demand for various segments, accompanied by growing rates of granting financial loans that help guide the decisions of many families. ” Towards the purchase of new units in addition to security stability and the people’s feeling of reassurance.”
He pointed out that “despite the increase in granting investment licenses, the number of available units is still limited compared to public demand, which means the crisis will continue with an increase in prices.”
Diyala is suffering from a housing crisis that requires providing approximately 20,000 new units to create a balance in Baqubah alone, while the number rises to higher levels with the rest of the other cities.
