    {Economic: Al-Furat News} Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul Ghani, confirmed today, Thursday, that we have understandings with the OPEC and Non-OPEC countries regarding oil and gas production.

    In a press statement, Abdul Ghani pointed out the failure of Western restrictions and sanctions imposed on exports of Russian oil resources.
    In response to a question about sanctions and cooperation with Russia, Abdul Ghani said, “Naturally, we have understandings with the OPEC and Non-OPEC countries regarding oil and gas production, and in return we have agreements in this framework, and Russia To date, it is considered the second largest exporter and producer of crude oil in the world.”
    He added, "I do not think that the blockade imposed on Russia regarding oil exports has an impact on it, as Russia has been able to bypass the restrictions."
    Earlier, the International Energy Agency reported that Russian oil revenues rose to $17.1 billion in August 2023, despite a decline in exports by about 7.5% on an annual basis, to 7.2 million barrels per day. 
    The rise in oil and gas revenues is evidence of the failure of Western sanctions against Russia, as the West sought, by setting a ceiling on the price of the Russian barrel, to reduce Russian budget revenues.
    In December 2022, the European Union and the G7 countries imposed a ceiling on the price of a barrel of Russian oil, prohibiting European transportation and insurance companies from providing their services if it was sold above the level of $60 per barrel.
    As of February 5, 2023, a price ceiling was imposed on supplies of petroleum products from Russia, with a cap of $100 imposed on petroleum products that sell at a premium such as diesel.
    For its part, Moscow imposed a ban, effective February 1, on selling its oil and its products to parties that adhere to the price ceiling.
