    Economy News - Baghdad
The environmental expert at the Desert Studies Center, Hatem Ibrahim, confirmed that “Iraq is facing a dangerous wave of desertification that threatens the future of future generations, and portends an environmental and health disaster that cannot be overcome in any way.”
Ibrahim said, “68-70% of Iraq’s arable area is threatened by climate fluctuations and vulnerable to desertification within a period not exceeding two years if the water situation in Iraq remains as it is.”
He revealed that "the green spaces in Iraq do not exceed only 3-4% of the total area of Iraqi lands," describing this as "a dangerous indicator that requires the Iraqi government and concerned departments to accelerate the development of strategic solutions and implement them on the ground."
