    Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, said on Sunday that the Ministry of Commerce will not become a Ministry of Supply, while stressing the study of launching a basket of construction materials.

    Statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office, a copy of which was received by 964 Network:

    Today, Sunday, the Prime Minister, Mr. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, made a visit to the headquarters of the Ministry of Commerce, to follow up on the implementation of the objectives of the government program, and to review the Ministry’s procedures in the ration card files, the provision of basic materials, and economic reforms.
    His Excellency held a meeting with the advanced staff of the Ministry, during which he stressed the importance of improving the quality of the ration card items, especially rice and oil, and ending the complex procedures that the citizen faces during his review regarding the registration of the ration card and the deletion and transfer procedures, and the necessity of preserving the citizen’s dignity upon review.
    Mr. Al-Sudani indicated that the government is continuing with measures to eliminate suspicious trade, and the continuation of the battle against currency speculators, stressing that the recent measures in the financial sector have contributed to consolidating the confidence of international financial institutions in Iraqi trade, and stressed that the Ministry of Commerce should not be a ministry for the ration card, and that it should take its full role. In achieving the desired economic reform and creating an attractive business environment for investments.
    The Prime Minister stressed the necessity of studying the launch of a basket of construction materials, and that government measures should continue to maintain the prices of basic materials in the local market.

He also met with a number of citizens reviewing and the obstacles and requirements they face in completing their transactions. He directed to continue simplifying the procedures in a way that meets the goals of supporting the private sector and supporting its participation in economic reforms. He also directed the importance of finding a building that is appropriate to the size of the auditors and the tasks carried out by the department.
