Today, Monday, the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibes Al-Saadawi, directed that the Assistant Director General of Air Navigation, Wissam Samir Abbas, be assigned to manage the company, after withdrawing the hand of the Director General, Abbas Sabbar Al-Baydani, and referring him for investigation into the celebration incident.
The Ministry's media office stated, in a statement received by Al-Eqtisad News, that "Muhaibis made a surprise visit to the General Company for Air Navigation Services, and issued several directives against the backdrop of what happened on the sidelines of the celebration held by the company on the occasion of International Air Traffic Controller's Day, last week."
He added, "The minister's visit coincided with the issuance of a ministerial order, today, Monday, to withdraw the hand of the Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Air Navigation Services, Abbas Sabbar Al-Baydani, and a number of employees, to ensure that the investigation proceeds in a transparent and professional manner."
Finally, on the sidelines of the Ministry’s Opinion Committee meeting, the Minister directed “general directors to follow up and directly supervise any initiatives or celebrations and follow up on their methods.”
Earlier, the Ministry of Transport opened an official investigation into a celebration held at the General Company for Air Navigation Services.
