{Politics: Al-Furat News} Member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Wafa Muhammad Karim, explained today, Friday, that it was agreed to postpone the region’s internal problems until after the Kirkuk governorate elections.
Karim told {Al-Furat News} agency, “There are internal problems in the Kurdistan region related to the administrative and security situation and Sulaymaniyah’s imports that do not return to the regional government,” indicating that they are “related to the security authorities that do not adhere to the government’s directives.”

He added, "It was agreed to postpone and suspend all these problems until after the Kirkuk elections, because the internal problems remain until the election file for the position of governor of Kirkuk is completed."

He noted that "each party entered a separate list, and the number of seats will be combined after the end of the elections to obtain the position of governor of Kirkuk, and that 8 or 9 seats will enable us to obtain the position of governor of Kirkuk."

Last Tuesday, the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union met at the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Political Bureau in the Salah al-Din resort.
The two sides stressed the need for coordination and cooperation and the need to mobilize the strength and efforts of all forces and political parties to protect the entity of the Kurdistan region, as well as formulating a joint strategy that is compatible with the course of events and their changes, and confronting all challenges.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen common points and resolve crises and problems in accordance with Kurdistan national and patriotic interests.

Provincial council elections are scheduled to be held next December 18 in 15 governorates, excluding the Kurdistan region, and about 23 million Iraqis have the right to vote.

Since 2003, Iraq has known three local elections, the first in 2005, followed by the 2009 elections, then the 2013 elections, but Kirkuk Governorate only witnessed one electoral cycle, which was held in 2005.

Kirkuk Governorate consists of four districts and 12 districts, and the Independent High Electoral Commission has identified 344 polling centers and 2,033 ballot boxes supervised by 11,650 employees.
