A delegation from the Kurdistan region headed this morning, Monday (November 27, 2023), to the capital, Baghdad, to discuss oil, salaries, and budget files.
The "Baghdad Today" correspondent said, "A delegation from the Kurdistan region, headed by Awat Janab, Minister of Finance, Chief of the Cabinet Office, Omid Sabah, Cabinet Secretary Amanj Rahim, Head of the Coordination and Follow-up Office, Abdul Hakim Khosrow, and Cabinet Advisor Khaled Hadi, headed this morning to the capital, Baghdad."
He added, "The delegation is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, to discuss the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees, amending the budget law and the process of oil exports in the Kurdistan Region."
Yesterday , Sunday, an informed source revealed the visit of a delegation from the regional government to the capital, Baghdad, tomorrow, Monday, while indicating that the delegation will meet Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani.
The source told "Baghdad Today", "A delegation from the regional government will visit Baghdad tomorrow, Monday, to discuss many outstanding issues between the center and the region."
The source indicated that "the delegation will be headed by Finance Minister Awat Sheikh Janab and the membership of Prime Minister Omid Sabah," indicating that "it will meet with Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and Finance Minister Taif Sami, as well as members of the Parliamentary Finance Committee."
He pointed out that "the visit aims to reach a new agreement regarding employee salaries, after the end of the three-month agreement under which Baghdad sends an amount of 700 billion dinars to finance salaries, in addition to the region's oil file and the budget. "
The Kurdistan region is witnessing a wave of public anger, due to the salary crisis, which resulted in demonstrations in Sulaymaniyah and many cities in the region that lasted for months to demand rights and be linked directly to the center.
While a number of Kurdish employees decided to protest, today, Sunday, in Tahrir Square in central Baghdad to express their anger over the salary file, some of them were unable to reach them, after they were prevented from crossing the control of Kirkuk Governorate and heading to the capital.
