Health allocates 175 billion dinars to the cancer program

The Ministry of Health has allocated 175 billion dinars for the cancer program, which includes treating patients and providing medicines and medical devices.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Saleh Al-Hasnawi, told “Al-Sabah”: This amount is allocated within the budget allocations, as part of it, amounting to 157 billion dinars, was allocated to purchase cancer drugs, pointing out that a contract was concluded after difficult negotiations with well-known international companies in the amount of 59 million dollars to provide cancer drugs. He added that the work system in all institutions affiliated with the Ministry depends on the national list of essential medicines, as there are currently between 3 and 4 thousand medication forms available in the private sector, while the Ministry has provided 650 medication forms to cover basic services for those hospitalized. Al-Hasnawi pointed out that there are more than 112 cancer drugs provided by the Ministry, which is 90-95 percent of the total cancer drugs. He noted that the system of contributions from charitable organizations supporting health, especially cancerous and rare diseases, is followed by most countries in the world with the support of organizations, and it was recently activated in Iraq, and this was achieved after the Prime Minister opened the Center for Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation in the Medical City in Baghdad, as it was established by donors. The well-off, and in turn, we are working to encourage all health-supporting organizations, in addition to the cooperation of investors, to establish many pharmaceutical factories.
