    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Today, Wednesday (December 27, 2023), a member of the Parliamentary Security Committee, Representative Waad Al-Qaddu, reviewed 4 influential cards that the United States of America has against Iraq, aiming to keep Baghdad in its sphere of influence within the strategic agreement.
Al-Qaddu said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The strategic agreement between Baghdad and Washington, which was approved more than 10 years ago, is considered a path to perpetuate the occupation, even in another form, especially since it included pressure tools aimed at keeping Iraq within the occupation's sphere of influence."

He added, "Washington is exploiting Iraq's rentier economy to transfer its money to its treasury to control it. Therefore, Baghdad's economy is dependent on American foreign policy. This is matched by the role of the White House in creating ISIS and its ability to awaken sleeping cells to destabilize security, accompanied by another sensitive file, which is the atmosphere and the lack of capabilities to protect it." In light of the presence of swarms of American aircraft that do not operate independently without Washington’s intervention in many of its technical aspects.”

He pointed out that "there are parties inside the country that have linked their interests to the American presence, and they are being used by Washington as a pressure card through demonstrations and destabilization," pointing out that he "supports the departure of American forces today before tomorrow, but Washington will resort to its tools in order to pressure the government to stop... "There is no movement in this direction."

The recent American targeting of the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces in central Babylon caused the death and injury of more than 18 people, including civilians, according to the Iraqi government. It is the second targeting of its kind after a similar targeting in Jurf al-Sakhar, while these targeting caused a renewed discussion about removing American forces from Iraq
