Kurdistan continues to remove mines and war remnants

Field teams in the Kurdistan Region continue their work during the current year to remove and clear large areas throughout the region of unexploded mines, explosives, and war remnants.
The Director General of Technical Affairs at the General Corporation for Mine Action in the region, Ali Muhammad Amin, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: The teams affiliated with the Corporation continue their work in removing unexploded mines, explosives, and war remnants after the great support they received from the regional government in providing the necessary facilities. In order to reach mined areas and fields that also contain war remnants and explosives.
Amin added that many tasks were completed last year by the organization’s cadres and teams in cooperation and coordination with international organizations and supporting and supporting bodies, indicating that the working teams were able to detonate 6,284 military remnants in different areas of the region, as well as clearing 44 fields of mines. We also treated and destroyed 3,849 mines and explosive devices, indicating that the number of mine victims during the past year reached 23, with 13 injured.
And 10 lost their lives.
He explained that the Foundation’s work is not limited to field teams for removing mines, explosives, and war remnants, but rather included holding 15 training courses during the past year in which 174 employees participated, as well as the teams carrying out awareness-raising operations for citizens and distributing leaflets and awareness-raising messages, amounting to 186,106 awareness-raising messages.
