    Today, Thursday (January 11, 2024), Representative Ali Neama revealed the contents of strategic understandings with Ankara on border security.
    Nimah said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “border security falls within Iraq’s national security priorities, especially since it has deeply influential dimensions that raise concern in all circles, including political circles, because of the effects it creates in light of repeated violations of sovereignty, especially by Turkey, through bombing and incursion.” And establishing bases and stations inside Iraq in a manner contrary to good neighborliness.”
    He added, "Iraq deals with the border security issue wisely and sought to form a technical committee headed by National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji to open up to Tehran in order to achieve security coordination to enhance the concern for stability on the border strip, and it succeeded in completing its work."
    He pointed out that "the Al-Araji Committee will move to Turkey in order to create strategic understandings that will contribute to ending the violations file and secure the border strip in a way that prevents the recurrence of violations of sovereignty," pointing out that "Iraq is clear in its dealings with border security and seeks to put an end to violations and violations and prevent its lands from turning into An arena of conflicts.
    Turkey is fighting an insurgency waged by the Kurdistan Workers' Party in its mainly Kurdish southeast, which has killed 40,000 people since the 1980s and was largely run from within Iraq.
