    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Monday (January 29, 2024), Representative Yasser Al-Husseini described the industry in Iraq as having reached the stage of clinical death due to five “catastrophic” mistakes.
Al-Husseini told "Baghdad Today" that "the Ministry of Industry's companies, with all their titles, are economically viable and profitable, but because of the procedures followed by successive governments, many of them have become losers."
He explained, "The loss of the Ministry of Industry companies comes for several reasons, the most prominent of which is the merger of companies and assigning their management tasks to non-specialists with experience, not to mention large files related to corruption and waste of money, in addition to the loss of technical competencies and expertise."
He added, "One of the things that should be highlighted is granting companies 30 billion dinars between the years 2011-2013 in order to modernize production lines, but unfortunately none of them have worked so far and the machines have become obsolete. Rather, the ministry went to conclude partnership contracts that did not achieve any benefits, but rather the opposite." Invested by some in benefiting from customs exemptions and contracts with government companies for the interests of investors.”
He pointed out that "reviving factories will undoubtedly absorb 15% of unemployment in Iraq," pointing out that "the industry's situation is that it has entered the stage of clinical death despite the presence of human resources and raw materials."
Al-Husseini also said, “The main problem is mismanagement and organization, not marketing, in light of the existence of laws that support national production,” stressing, “We cannot remain silent about what is happening to Iraqi industry, and it needs courageous national decisions to change the compass of its fate and push towards building a national economy that forms “Industry is an important part of financing the country’s treasury.”
