    Basra - Ministry of Transport announced on Sunday, for a quest with the Oil Ministry, for its quest to make Basra, the economic capital of the country, in collaboration with the Ministry of Oil, and the realization of the project to be a "fait accompli", indicating that it will do the air traffic of the province, (590 km south of Baghdad) , to Baghdad and Najaf, while the provincial administration promised that the transfer of the headquarters of the Department of Shipping to Basra, "an important step" for the development of the sector, and the allocation of the ministry revealed 12 double-decker bus for the province. He said Transport Minister, Bayan Jabr, during a joint press conference with the governor of Basra, upon his arrival in the city's airport, attended by (long-Presse), "The ministry is working in collaboration with the Ministry of Oil, to make Basra, the economic capital of the country and the realization of the project to be a fait accompli despite the delay in Council of Ministers during the previous session.

    He said al-Zubaidi, that "the development of the transport sector in Iraq, especially in Basra, contributes to the development of the province and made it a point to attract economic," noting that "Basra will witness the conduct of two flights from the airport to Baghdad a day, as well as the opening of the air route with three flights per week between Najaf as well as the development of the sectors of maritime and land transport.

    For his part, counting the governor of Basra, Majed Nasraoui, in an interview to the (long-Presse), that "the decision of the Minister of Transport, the transfer of the management of maritime transport to Basra, an important step for the development of the sector," asserting that "the field work of the maritime transport sector is of Basra, particularly the presence of his administration in Baghdad since 1986, it was to no avail.

    He revealed Nasraoui, for "customizing the Ministry of Transport 12 double-decker bus, to transport passengers," noting that "the two buses which will be allocated to the transfer of airport passengers, the rest of the passengers to areas where it deems appropriate administration of the province.

    The visit of the Minister of Transport, Bayan Jabr, to Basra, to the opening of several projects related to Bmtarha, ports and maritime transport, in a move aimed at supporting the local government, and the administration of the province.

    It is noteworthy that the Ministers of Transport Baqir al-Zubaidi, oil and Adel Abdul-Mahdi, two of the leaders of the Islamic Supreme Council, headed by Ammar al-Hakim, who has called on more than one occasion over the past years, to make Basra, the capital of Iraq, economic, and block citizen Altbah Council, already that submitted a proposal for a project in this regard, but the previous government, has delayed approval under the pretext of what the consequent financial implications.
