Earth News/ Economist Nabil Al-Marsoumi, today, Sunday, highlighted the issue of diversifying sources of Iraqi income.
Al-Marsoumi stated in an explanation seen by Earth News, “Non-oil revenues rose from 7.658 trillion dinars in 2022 to 9.799 trillion dinars in 2023, by 2.141 trillion dinars, a rate of 28% over the year 2022, while the percentage of non-oil revenues’ contribution to public revenues reached 93% in the year.” 2023 is lower than 2022, which was 95%.”

He added, “The non-oil revenues actually achieved in 2023 achieved only 57% of the planned revenues in the 2023 budget, which were 17 trillion dinars. In addition, the percentage of non-oil revenues’ contribution to the planned public revenues was 87%, while it was higher than the contribution.” The non-oil revenues achieved in 2023 are about 6%, and in contrast, the non-oil revenues actually achieved in Kurdistan (which includes 3 governorates) amounted to about 4 trillion dinars in 2023, which represents 41% of the non-oil revenues achieved in 15 Iraqi governorates.”
