The events of the case begin with the receipt of a report to the Public Prosecution from a number of Iraqi tourists in Egypt, in which they accuse a fake company called “Friends of Egypt” of defrauding them by deluding them with their ability to book hotels and tourist trips, pointing out that they sent sums of money in dollars to the company through a transfer company. The famous money, and upon their arrival in Egypt, the company representative turned off his phones, and they could not reach him.
For its part, the Criminal Investigation Department intensified its investigations, and using modern means, it was revealed that a Syrian national and an Egyptian national had established a fake company to defraud tourists. By preparing ambushes, the accused were arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution to investigate the case.
The defendants admitted before the prosecution that the formation is run by a Syrian national from Lebanon, and they work with him in exchange for a percentage of the money they receive.
In turn, the Public Prosecution ordered the defendants to be detained for four days pending investigation, to be renewed on the specified date, according to Egyptian media.
