    Committee member Arif Al-Hamami told Baghdad Al-Youm, “The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and the Media Authority are each required within their role to tighten oversight and follow-up on the work of some (paid) media outlets that spread rumors and want to undermine government achievements, in addition to those that work to undermine political influence.” ".
    Al-Hamami stressed that “freedom of expression and the press is necessary and constructive criticism is welcomed,” adding, “But this does not mean spreading rumours, making accusations, and throwing accusations for the purpose of achieving a political agenda. This matter is unacceptable and is far from the etiquette of the media and the press, and the authorities must do so.” The competent supervisory authority holds these means accountable, in accordance with the laws.”
