The port of Umm Qasr was reopened Saturday at 3 am and all operations resumed after protesters left the port entrance, port officials and government sources said.
All the operations have been stopped at the port since last Thursday after the protesters closed the entrance.
The port of Umm Qasr, located 60 kilometers south of Basra, receives shipments of cereals, vegetable oils and sugar, which feed a country that relies heavily on imported food.
