The Kurdistan government complains about Baghdad’s finances: It is ready to pay 59% of the salaries of our employees

Yesterday, Monday, the Kurdistan Regional Government issued a statement regarding the salaries of Kurdish employees, noting that the Federal Ministry of Finance is prepared to pay only 59% of the employees’ salaries after a month of delay.
The official spokesman for the regional government, Peshwa Hawrami, said in a statement received by (Al-Mada), “The salary problem in the Kurdistan region began when a major political party in the Kurdistan Regional Government, which formed the government, followed an opposition party and were guides to the enemies of the region to create pressure on Kurdistan and reduce employee salaries.” “.
Hawrami added, “The Federal Ministry of Finance is prepared to pay only 59% of the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees after a month of delay, and it does not include the salaries of the Peshmerga, martyrs, and a large portion of employees in order to create strife, discrimination, and insult Kurdistan employees.”
He pointed out that “the Kurdistan Regional Government, especially the Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, is working to solve the problem of the salaries of all employees in the Kurdistan Region, who are outside the national intention and protection of the constitutional entity of the Kurdistan Region. They are bidding, and if they are honest, then let them distribute this salary with the Ministry of Finance in the federal government.” “Because we do not accept insults and discrimination among our employees.”
Peshwa Hawrami concluded by saying: “We defend the rights of all the people of the Kurdistan region, and we reject the violation of our constitutional rights, discrimination, and the policy of starvation in any form, and we stand against it.”
The Kurdistan Region Council of Ministers had called on the Federal Ministry of Finance in Baghdad to send salary recipients’ entitlements to the Ministry of Finance and Economy in the region in full and without any discrimination. On Wednesday, 2/21/2024, the Federal Supreme Court, the highest judicial authority in Iraq, decided Obliging both Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, Prime Minister of the Federal Council, and Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, to localize the salaries of employees and workers in the public sector at federal banks.
