    Today, Wednesday (March 20, 2024), the Federal Supreme Court confirmed that it was subjected to a “politicized” internal and external media attack targeting its “legitimacy,” while stressing that it would take the necessary legal measures to deter and thwart it .
    The court’s media said in a statement, received by “Baghdad Today”, that “ the purpose of the Federal Supreme Court exercising its jurisdiction is the correct application of the Constitution, ensuring the unity of Iraq and building a democratic republican, representative, parliamentary system, based on the peaceful transfer of power and fair distribution of wealth, in addition to the foundations Other constitutional principles, for the purpose of building the state in a way that achieves justice, eliminates injustice, preserves public funds and uses them for the benefit of the people, and achieves the rule of law.”
    He added, "This requires that all authorities must adhere to the limits of their constitutional powers, and that local authorities should not exercise the exclusive powers of the federal authorities, because this relates to the sovereignty and unity of the country, while local authorities in regions or governorates not organized into a region must exercise other powers, and take into account the common powers between the authorities."     The court’s statement affirmed that, “As a result of its decisions taken to preserve the constitution, the Federal Supreme Court is exposed to an internal and external media attack to discourage it from fulfilling its constitutional duties towards the nation and the people. We believe that this attack is politicized and aims to harm the reputation of the Federal Supreme Court and target its legitimacy.
