    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]Trade statistics indicate that Iran exported approximately 113 million tons of non-oil goods worth $40.5 billion during the first ten months of the past Iranian year (March 21, 2023 to January 21, 2024), which represents a 9% increase in weight and an 11% decrease. % in value compared to the same period last year.[/rtl]

[rtl]Iran's five main export destinations during that period were China with $11.5 billion, Iraq with $7.7 billion, the UAE with $5.2 billion, Turkey with $5 billion and India with $1.8 billion. Accordingly, the share of the country's five main export destinations, during this period, amounted to 74% of the total value of exports, and China and Iraq accounted for more than 47% of the country's total exports, which demonstrates the importance of these two countries in Iran's exports, according to Iranian media.[/rtl]

[rtl]Iran's exports to Iraq during the years 2013 to 2023 were always accompanied by ups and downs, but they grew at a rate of 5.5% during the period mentioned above. The export of 63.1% of natural gas and 10.9% of iron or steel bars led to an increase in Iran’s exports to Iraq by about 71% in 2022 compared to 2013.[/rtl]

[rtl]In 2022, although exports to this country continued to rise for the second year in a row, their growth rate witnessed a clear slowdown. The value of Iran's exports to Iraq in 2022 amounted to about $10.3 billion, which is the highest amount of exports to this country during the decade under review, as it witnessed a growth of 15.5% compared to 2021.[/rtl]

[rtl]But contrary to the upward trend witnessed by exports to Iraq until the end of 2022, it appears that this trend did not continue in 2023. Because the statistics published by customs for the first ten months of the past Iranian year (March 21, 2023 until January 21, 2024), show that exports to Iraq saw a figure of $7.7 billion, indicating a 13% decrease in value compared to 2022.[/rtl]

[rtl]Iran's exports to Iraq do not vary much, and the ten main commodities that Iran will export to this country in 2022 constitute about 52% of the total value of its exports. LNG was the most important Iranian export commodity to Iraq, with a share of 37% of the total value of exports. Of course, Iran's LNG exports to Iraq have been on an upward trend since 2021 and reached about $3.8 billion in 2022, an increase of 56%. Comparing LNG exports in 2021 with 2018 also shows that exports of this product increased by about double.[/rtl]

[rtl]Iron or steel bars and tiles are considered the second and third most important Iranian export commodities to Iraq, which in 2022 accounted for about 7% and 1.3% of the total value of exports to Iraq, respectively. The 10-year export trend of iron bars shows that although the export of this product to Iraq has been increasing rapidly since 2016, this trend stopped in 2022 and the value of its exports reached $708 million, a decrease of about 10%.[/rtl]

[rtl]Tile exports to Iraq also witnessed a slight increase during the period covered by this report since 2017, and reached $130 million in 2023, a growth of about 2% compared to 2021.[/rtl]
