Al-Rahman Mosque, the largest mosque in Iraq in terms of area and construction, began operating in the year one thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine, and stopped after the fall of the year two thousand and three. It was controlled by one of the religious parties for nearly fifteen years, and after a dispute between it and the Shiite Endowment, that party was removed from the equation, so that it could return. The endowment is granted to investing parties behind which influential people stand, according to observers who indicated that they are prominent politicians and parliamentarians, who control many lands in the Al-Mansour region and its neighboring areas, and that they sought in every way to remove the controlling party from the land in order to seize it.
Two hundred thousand square meters is the excluded area of one hundred and sixty dunams, which the influential investor will control to establish a residential complex, a large hotel, and a commercial mall, in addition to a group of schools, playgrounds, car garages, etc. Will the government stand idly by in the face of these moves? Which took away all the lands and green spaces in Baghdad, and choked them with concrete walls and blocks, causing population overcrowding and car traffic.
