Today, Monday (May 20, 2024), the Supreme Authority for Hajj and Umrah announced its agreement with the Central Bank of Iraq to open branches of the Rafidain and Rasheed banks in Baghdad and the provinces to exchange the dollar currency to pilgrims.
The Authority stated in a statement, received by “Baghdad Today”, that “after several meetings held by the Authority with the Central Bank, and under the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and the efforts of the Chairman of the Authority, Sami Al-Masoudi, regarding the necessity of facilitating the banking process for the pilgrims of the Holy House of God, and the Central Bank’s keenness to serve the pilgrims, it was concluded.” It was agreed that the Rafidain and Al-Rasheed Banks would open their doors to the guests of God.
She explained, "30 branches of Al-Rashid and Al-Rafidain Banks were opened in Baghdad, and 8 branches in the governorates according to the schedules of pilgrims, while exchange companies are allocated in the governorates where it is not possible to open branches."
It is noteworthy that Al-Nasik Islamic Bank is the only bank that took the initiative during the past few days to disburse dollars to pilgrims daily.
