    [ltr]The Governor of the Central Bank, Ali Mohsen Ismail Al-Alaq, announced the third strategic plan for the years (2024-2026), which includes a set of main and sub-objectives and initiatives to achieve the bank's aspirations.[/ltr]


     


    [ltr]The governor stated that the plan paid special attention to the supervision and supervision of the banking sector, in order to build a "sober" banking sector, while the plan, according to the relationship, focused on the non-banking financial institutions sector.[/ltr]


     


    [ltr]He stressed that exceptional efforts will be made to address the problems and obstacles facing the Bank's initiatives in order to achieve the vision and goals.[/ltr]




    [ltr]The three-year strategic plan includes seven objectives, namely: "supporting and enhancing monetary stability, promoting digital transformation, activating electronic payments, strengthening cybersecurity, enhancing financial inclusion, maintaining a sound financial system, developing the organizational structure, strengthening the bank's position locally and internationally, and enhancing compliance with the banking sector and the non-banking financial institutions sector."[/ltr]


     


    [ltr]The plan listed the opportunities and challenges facing the bank's work, as the opportunities included "reducing the public budget deficit and improving the international business environment," while the challenges posed both "imbalances in the Iraqi economy, and cybersecurity threats."[/ltr]


     


    [ltr]In its plan, the bank stated that it has established the technical infrastructure of the GO AML system of the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism Office to receive, process and analyze reports submitted by financial institutions or other entities.[/ltr]


     


    [ltr]The bank has confirmed that it is currently accredited by 60 financial information units around the world.[/ltr]


     


    [ltr]Regarding the initiatives that the bank linked to the sub-objectives, including "the ability to issue medium or long-term securities, moving from the platform to sending banks in conducting external transfers, increasing gold reserves, introducing new high-quality currency issuances, automating cash operations, supporting small and microfinance, establishing an electronic platform for complaints management, and others."[/ltr]

    Please note Strategic objective number One below says introduce "New Issues" of high-quality Currency. New issues mean New Lower Denominations. We have always known the new notes would be polymer notes... It's the only initiative left to complete from the first objective and they cannot complete the second objective without it. We must be very close indeed. Plus, the fact this became public on Thursday IMO suggests public education has begun. There is a link in the report, so you read the entire document. The English portion starts at the bottom of the document, and you can read each following page scrolling upward.
