The Ministry of Health announced, on Sunday, its most prominent strategic hospital projects in Baghdad, while indicating the opening of more than 100 hospitals and the addition of more than 4,100 beds to the total capacity, through the work of the current government.
The ministry's spokesman, Saif Al-Badr, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and reviewed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "there are strategic hospital projects in Baghdad, including the 100-bed Al-Maamel Hospital, the 400-bed Al-Hurriya Hospital, which is a giant hospital with a completion rate of 70 percent, the People's Hospital with an advanced completion rate exceeding 80 percent with a capacity of 200 beds, Al-Fadhiliya Hospital, and Al-Nahrawan Hospital, which is located in an important strategic location on the outskirts of Baghdad with a capacity of 200 beds, Al-Hussainiya Hospital with 200 beds, and Al-Numan Hospital, which is less than 100 beds."
He added, "Since the start of the government's work, more than 100 projects have been opened in Baghdad and the governorates, including five giant hospitals in the form of medical cities, including the giant Al-Sayyab or "Turkish" Hospital and the identical Al-Hakim Hospital, the Blood Diseases Center in the capital, Baghdad, in the Medical City, and other health institutions," noting that "about 60 primary health care centers have been opened and about 60 projects have been rehabilitated."
He stressed that "these projects have added more than 4,100 beds as a total bed capacity in Iraq," noting that "there are more than 250 projects under construction, including rehabilitation projects."
He stated that "the completion of these projects soon will add about 11,000 beds to the total capacity," noting that "all the hospitals mentioned are public and include all specialties such as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, etc., and will be a qualitative addition and provide all medical services to citizens."
