    Economic expert Nabil Al-Marsoumi stated today, Friday (July 26, 2024), that Parliament is responsible for increasing spending in the current year’s 2014 budget by 15 trillion dinars, in which “certain representatives” were accused of putting it “fraudulently.”
    Al-Marsoumi said in a post on Facebook, followed by Baghdad Today, that “the one who changed the budget tables is the House of Representatives or its presidency, as the tables came from the government with a spending volume of 211 trillion dinars and came out of Parliament with a volume of 226 trillion dinars, and the change was made in the following paragraphs:
    - Increase in the amount of the ration card by 5 trillion dinars.
    - Increase in oil revenues by 5 trillion dinars.
    - Reducing fees by 5 trillion dinars.
    - Financial increases for the Ministry of Electricity and some governorates.
    He added, "These increases mean an increase in the budget deficit from 64 to 79 trillion dinars."
    In recent days, reports have spread accusing "certain representatives" of defrauding the government and parliament by increasing the budget by 15 trillion dinars to achieve personal gains.
    There is no confirmation from Parliament or the government about this news, and no official statements have been issued to clarify whether there is fraud or not.
