    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Yasser Watout, confirmed today, Saturday (September 28, 2024), that Iraq will be affected by any security and political developments in the region, noting that the Iraqi government is making great efforts to keep the country away from the circle of war, especially in light of the current regional tensions.
In a statement to Baghdad Today, Watout explained that "Iraq is directly affected by any security or political event in the region, and the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah will have clear effects on Iraq and the region as a whole."
He added, "The Iraqi government completely refuses to be dragged into any conflict, and is working through intensive diplomatic channels to prevent the expansion of the war in the region."
"All political and popular forces in Iraq stand united in their rejection and deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Nasrallah, and the coming hours may reveal unexpected repercussions on the regional scene," Witout said.
All eyes will be on Baghdad in the coming days, amid questions about whether it will be able to continue to maintain this fragile balance in the midst of these accelerating events.
Speaking of the scenarios of the coming days and the surprises they will bring, a source close to the resistance factions in Iraq identifies three points in response to the martyrdom of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah .
The source told Baghdad Today on Saturday (September 28, 2024), "The faction leaders were informed of the news of the martyrdom of Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah at dawn today, and the official announcement was left to the party in order to prepare the necessary preparations for the announcement according to what the party's leadership wants, which appears to have taken a series of important decisions that will be announced soon ."
He added that "the factions are in an expanded meeting with the axis leaders to study the next steps," stressing that "three points will determine the nature of the response, the most prominent of which are what the immediate plans are, how to interact with any invasion attempt, and what the position will be with the entity's allies in the region ."
He pointed out that "the next 24 hours are very important and may be the beginning of a different scene, but in any case the response to Nasrallah's martyrdom will not be limited to a missile strike on targets deep inside Zionism, but rather it is a fire of revenge that will remain for years, giving will and vitality to the struggle and jihad of all factions without exception ."
He continued, "Although Nasrallah's martyrdom is a great loss, from an ideological standpoint, his blood will strengthen generations and generations in continuing on the path of the martyred leaders ."
The Lebanese Hezbollah mourned its Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, who was martyred in an Israeli strike that hit his headquarters, igniting the fire of war and inflaming the feelings of millions in the region .
Observers describe the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah as a “huge earthquake” in the Middle East, the results of which are difficult to know, stressing that the repercussions of this event will be profound on the regional and global levels .
The Israeli army announced today, Saturday, the assassination of Nasrallah in the raids that targeted the party's central command headquarters in the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, last Friday evening.
