Ready for Anything: Iran Prepared to Respond to Any New Sanctions

The statement was issued following a new ballistic missile test conducted by Iran.
Earlier, a UN expert panel concluded that a similar missile test conducted by the Islamic Republic on October 10 this year violated UN sanctions against testing nuclear-capable missiles, prompting the US to call for enforcement action against Iran.
"Iran doesn’t consider the US diplomacy as honorable or honest," Hossein Sheikholeslam, advisor on foreign affairs to the chairman of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, told Sputnik regarding the issue. "But Iran fulfills its obligations and strictly adheres to the agreements reached with the other side. However, it’s not enough for us that the US merely makes declarations and promises to fulfill the obligations it made."
The US often opts to act according to its interests instead of honoring the agreements it previously made, Sheikholeslam remarked, adding that Iran is "ready for anything."
"It’s hard to tell whether the US will actually implement new sanctions or not, but if it does happen, Iran will respond in kind," he said.
Iran signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany on July 14, to ensure the peaceful nature of Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.
Under the deal, Tehran agreed to reduce its stock of enriched uranium, decrease the number of centrifuges in the country and reconfigure the Arak heavy-water reactor, as well as refrain from any uranium enrichment at its Fordow facility.

Iran is ready to retaliate against any new sanctions, according to a high-ranking Iranian government official.
The White House representative Josh Earnest said that the US might impose new sanctions against Iran if the Islamic republic’s nuclear activities would be considered a threat to the United States, according to Reuters.The statement was issued following a new ballistic missile test conducted by Iran.
