    {Local: Al-Furat News} Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Planning revealed precise details about poverty and unemployment rates and the ministry’s mechanisms for monitoring inflation.

    Ministry spokesman, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, told Al-Furat News: “The Central Bureau of Statistics, affiliated with the Ministry of Planning, through its branches in all governorates, monitors the prices of goods and services in the main markets in the governorate centers, and determines the monthly variables in those prices.”
    He added, "There are 333 goods and services, divided into 11 sections, whose prices are monitored, and which have a direct impact on consumer price rates, and thus inflation."
    Al-Hindawi pointed out that “according to the latest report for last September, the monthly inflation rate recorded stability without an increase or decrease, meaning that it stopped at what it recorded in the previous month of August, as it recorded an increase in the month of August by (0.5%). As for the annual It increased by (3.6%).
    He continued, "As for the most important departments whose prices are monitored monthly, they are:
    - Food and non-alcoholic beverages
    - Housing
    - Clothes and shoes
    - Health
    - Education
    - Communications
    - Transportation
    - Restaurants 
    - Culture and Entertainment.
    " Al-Hindawi added, "As for the reasons for stability, they are due to securing food supplies through the ration card." This was reflected in the stability of their prices in the markets, as well as the Central Bank ensuring that all imports of foodstuffs are covered at the official price of the dollar.”
    He concluded by saying, “With regard to the unemployment rate, it is estimated at 16% and the poverty rate is 20%.”
