Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: The Iraqi Parliamentary Legal Commission stressed that the calculation of 1.7 in the Provincial Council's Law will serve all political blocs, pointing the possibility of legislating a special election law for Kirkuk.

MP Mahmoud al-Hassan pointed that the arguments within the parliament on Kirkuk's elections is still going on, suggesting the possibility of a separate law due to its social diversification and specialty.

"Kirkuk's law will not contravene with the state's law, because it shall be limited to the province only", he added.

The Iraqi Parliament voted last Monday to calculate coming provincial elections on the basis of 1.7, as well as holding the local and parliamentary elections at the same time.
