    The MP for the province of Basra, Furat al-Shara, on Sunday, the desire of some members of the provincial council to postpone the selection of the governor scheduled today to another time, while confirmed the "consensus" on the candidate Asaad al-Eidani to succeed former governor Majed Nasrawi.

    "It was scheduled to hold a session of the Basra Provincial Council, today noon, to choose a new governor, but there is a desire expressed by some members to extend the date in order to further develop the matter and reach more consensus."

    Al-Shara added that "candidate As'ad al-Eidani is currently the most conciliatory candidate for his name," adding that "the new governor needs the support of all."

    A member of Basra provincial council Mohammed al-Mansouri revealed on Sunday that the number of candidates for the post of governor, 50 people, including two women, mostly technocrats, accusing some parties to seek to win some candidates in favor of the names. Ending / 25
