Governors threatened with dismissal urge not to extend the provincial councils

Five governors are trying to evade dismissal by inciting parliamentary blocs to vote to abolish provincial councils in an attempt to circumvent the questioning they have been facing on charges of corruption and mismanagement.
These efforts led to a new division between the blocks of the House of Representatives on the extension of the provincial councils, and those who push for the abolition or freezing of the Parliament to take over the management of the provinces instead of the councils.
The blocs are preparing to start new negotiations in the middle of next week to find a legal formula to solve the problem of constitutional vacuum entered by the provincial councils after the end of its mandate specified four calendar years.

Only 8 articles of the provincial elections law remained after the vote on 45 articles. Two articles of the law, relating to the number of seats in the provincial council and the judiciary, were transferred to the third amendment to the provincial law.
The House of Representatives has raised its meeting, last Monday, to the middle of next week after the withdrawal of most of the political forces that oppose the abolition of local councils and the House of Representatives responsibility for supervision and follow-up departments.
Al-Sahlani reveals the existence of five governors whose resignations by the provincial council have become inevitable, prompting them to move on some parliamentary blocs through their access by a number of deputies to abolish the provincial councils and include them in the provincial and district elections law so as to get rid of the interrogations they are pursuing because of the charges against them. Corruption and waste of public money. "
A large number of governors face requests to be questioned by their provincial councils, led by Ninewa governor Nawfal al-Aakoub, governor of Basra Majid al-Nasrawi and Anbar governor Suhaib al-Rawi, who was issued a warrant by the Misdemeanor Court of Rasafa.
