"Democratic Syria" dominates the old city of Raqqa
The Syrian Democratic Forces, a military alliance of Kurdish and Arab factions, managed Friday to take control of the old city in the city of Raqqa, the stronghold of Syria's most prominent al-Qaeda organization, a spokesman for the forces said Friday.
"Today, the entire Old City of Raqqa has been under control after fighting with a thief," Talal Sallou said.
He added that Syria's democratic forces, supported by the international coalition, have become "the outskirts of the security box of the organization in the center of the city, where all its headquarters are located."
