Three senior communications officers were fired at the White House for "inappropriate contacts" with women in Vietnam during US President Donald Trump's recent visit to Asia.

"We are aware of this incident and investigations are under way," Pentagon spokesman Mark Wright said in a statement.

According to The Washington Post, investigations are being conducted against these soldiers, because there is evidence that they violated the curfew.

The three officers serve in a White House body tasked with ensuring safe communications to the president and vice president, Secret Service personnel, and other officials.

The incident was not the first of its kind. In August, four military officers were accused of preparing for the arrival of US Vice President Michael Pence to Panama, bringing several foreign women into the closed zone.
