The US federal budget bill for fiscal year 2019 included expenditures on the opening of an American embassy in Jerusalem.
"Building the US embassy in Jerusalem will be a priority for the State Department in terms of resource allocation in the security area in 2018 and 2019," the document said.
The document did not specify the amount specifically earmarked for building the embassy.
The fiscal year 2019 begins in October 2018. Congress is due to consider the draft budget submitted by the Donald Trump administration to lawmakers.
In December, Donald Trump announced that he had decided to relocate the US Embassy to Jerusalem, sparking widespread protest in the Arab and Muslim world.
