The Judges Committee assumes the functions of the Electoral Commission

The competent judicial committee received on Sunday the tasks of the Independent Electoral Commission in accordance with the instructions of the Supreme Judicial Council.
A source familiar with the "Judicial Committee formed of nine judges arrived, this morning, to the headquarters of the Commission and received its work in accordance with the instructions of the Supreme Judicial Council issued against the background of the decision of Parliament."
He added that "the Committee will prepare for the start of counting and manual counting throughout Iraq."
On Thursday (June 7, 2018), the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) spokesman Abdul Sattar Birekdar announced that a high judicial committee from the head of the public prosecutor's office, the head of the Judicial Supervision Authority and one of the judicial supervisors would move to the Electoral Commission building.
