    The Prime Minister, Eng. Mustafa Madbouli during his meeting with Iraqi Vice President Iyad Allawi, Egypt's keenness to participate in the Kuwait Conference for the reconstruction of Iraq in early 2018, stressing the importance of starting practical steps to maximize cooperation between the two countries and contribute to infrastructure projects in Iraq.

    Medbouli told the Iraqi Vice President that the latter's visit should lead to a roadmap for economic cooperation between the two countries, according to a statement by the Council of Ministers.

    He mentioned a number of partnerships between the Egyptian companies and the Iraqi government in some oil and gas extraction projects in Iraq, such as the gas development and production service contract in Siba field, as well as in Sector 9 in southeastern Iraq.

    The Prime Minister pointed out in this regard the importance of exchanging visits and delegations, including businessmen, to introduce investment opportunities in both countries, as well as the possibility of increasing trade exchange between them, saying: "They are determined to support cooperation between our two countries. from today".

    According to the statement, Dr. Mustafa Madbouli received Dr. Iyad Allawi, Vice President of the Republic of Iraq and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs. 

    This comes within the framework of his visit to Egypt to support and strengthen the bilateral cooperation relations between Egypt and Iraq.


    At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed the Vice President of the Republic of Iraq, praising the distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries.

    Medbouli stressed Egypt's firm position on the unity of Iraq and its sovereignty over all its national soil.

    For his part, Dr. Iyad Allawi, Vice President of the Republic of Iraq, looked forward to strengthening the bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries in various security and economic fields and establishing joint ventures, including in the field of petrochemicals.

    Allawi stressed on the achievement of economic cooperation between Egypt and Iraq in various fields of mutual benefit, especially with the existence of great opportunities to benefit from Egypt's expertise in a variety of projects to allow joint investments to meet local needs and export.

    He added that Egyptian employment has played an important role in development in previous periods in Iraq and that it can continue in this positive role in the future.

    The Deputy President of Iraq pointed out the importance of activating the joint committee between the two countries as a mechanism to follow up the ideas put forward to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries and to develop a vision for projects that Egyptian companies can contribute to.

    Allawi explained that he will convey this vision to various leaders and executive bodies in his country, stressing his conviction of the promising opportunities available in this regard to achieve economic integration.
