Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani discussed with a Russian delegation plans to develop the West Qurna and Eridu oil fields, in which Lukoil operates.
Yesterday, Wednesday, Al-Sudani received the Chairman of the Russian Federation of Manufacturers and Businessmen, and the founder of Lukoil Company, Vagit Alekperov, and his accompanying delegation. According to a statement by the Prime Minister, the meeting witnessed a discussion of the file of Russian companies operating in Iraq, in light of the visit made by the Iraqi Prime Minister to Moscow in October of last year. He also discussed “development plans” for the West Qurna and Ooredoo oil fields in which Lukoil operates, and ways to “overcome the obstacles” that hinder its work.
The participation of Lukoil in integrated energy projects in Iraq and new licensing rounds was also discussed.
