US oil inventories fall 9.9 million barrels a week

The US Energy Information Administration data showed Wednesday that US oil inventories fell 9.9 million barrels in the week ending June 22 to 416.6 million barrels.
Analysts had estimated US oil inventories to fall by 2.4 million barrels during the same period.
While data showed gasoline inventories rose by 1.2 million barrels last week.
By 2:40 pm GMT, US crude futures for August delivery rose 2.5% to $ 72.29 a barrel.
Brent crude for August delivery rose 1.9% to $ 77.81 a barrel.
