    Shafaq News/ The Minister of Planning in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Dara Rashid, announced on Monday that the population of the region has reached 6 million, 370 thousand, and 668 people.
    Dara said in a press conference that these numbers are according to the preliminary results of the population census and do not include (residents in the disputed areas).
    He added that the number of males in the region reached 3 million, 200 thousand and 506 people, while the number of females reached 3 million, 170 thousand and 162 people, meaning that the percentage of males is 50.4% and the percentage of females is 49.6%.
    Rashid continued: There are 6 million, 370 thousand, and 668 people living in the Kurdistan Region, distributed between 84% of the population in urban areas and 16% in rural areas, in addition to 2 million and 28 thousand housing units in the Kurdistan Region.
    The Kurdistan Minister of Planning pointed out that 4.4% of the population of the Kurdistan Region is over 65 years old, and that the oldest person in the region is 126 years old.
    Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced earlier today that the country's population, according to the general population and housing census, has reached more than 45 million people.
    Al-Sudani said in a press conference followed by Shafaq News Agency, "The population of Iraq has reached 45,407,495 people, including foreigners and refugees," explaining that "the number of families has reached 7 million, 898 thousand, and 588 families."
    Al-Sudani pointed out that "the number of males reached 22 million, 784 thousand, and 62 people, representing 50.1 percent, while the number of females reached 22 million, 623 thousand, and 833 people, representing 49.8 percent."
    The Prime Minister pointed out that "families headed by women are 11.33 percent, and those headed by men are 88.67 percent."
    The Prime Minister stated that "the number of housing units in Iraq reached 8 million, 37 thousand, and 221 units," explaining that "the percentage of floors is 92.1 percent, the percentage of apartments is 6.6 percent, and the percentage of mud floors is 4 percent."
    He explained that "the percentage of the population under working age, less than 15 years, is 36.1 percent," noting that "the percentage of the population over working age, 65 years and over, is 3.7 percent."
