President Trump claimed Saturday that public opinion has "turned strongly against" special counsel Robert Mueller and his probe into Russian efforts to meddle in the 2016 election.

Trump tweeted that the public has turned against the "Rigged Witch Hunt" because they understand "that there was no Collusion with Russia."

Trump's tweet came a day after his attorney Rudy Giuliani argued in a New York Times interview that public opinion over Mueller's probe is moving toward Trump "big time."
"Nobody is going to consider impeachment if public opinion has concluded this is an unfair investigation, and that's why public opinion is so important," Giuliani told the newspaper.
The attorney also told the Times that Trump would only agree to an interview with the special counsel if Mueller had proof that the president had committed a crime.
The president and his GOP allies in Congress have claimed that Mueller's probe is biased against him, and Trump has repeatedly slammed the investigation as a "witch hunt."
Mueller has spent more than a year investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 presidential election.
A Politico-Morning Consult poll last month found that 36 percent of voters viewed Mueller's probe in a negative light, an all-time high. Twenty-three percent viewed the investigation negatively in a July 2017 poll.
The latest barbs against Mueller's probe came as prosecutors working for his office issued a new filing on Friday claiming that the special counsel will present evidence that a bank executive allegedly helped Paul Manafort, Trump's former campaign chairman, obtain more than $6 million in loans as the executive attempted to land a position in the campaign.
