    Canadian-based French-language website 45enord reported on the departure of a group of Canadian soldiers to Iraq to train Iraqi security forces to detect explosives and mines. The group leader said Iraqis would be better equipped to deal with such dangers. 

    "The departure of a small group of soldiers from the 4th Engineer Regiment of the Canadian Army Engineer (RAG) to Iraq on Thursday as part of the IMPACT process involving the International Alliance," the report said, noting that "these forces are dedicated to teaching the Iraqi security forces about the detection of IEDs And the search for, the presence of such explosives along the roads and transport routes and pose a threat to individuals and military equipment.




    "The deployment of these forces from the Engineering Corps is another proof of protection, security and global engagement with our international allies," said Lieutenant Colonel Jason Gill, commander of the 4th Engineer Support Group.
