China vowed on Monday to respond if US President Donald Trump insisted on imposing duties on Chinese imports of $ 200 billion.
"Beijing will have to take the necessary countermeasures," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Shuang in a press statement.
"The escalation of trade disputes is not in the interests of either side," King said, adding that "the Chinese government has proposed to resolve trade disputes through negotiations."
