Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced on Tuesday that his government will grant the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research the authority to appoint the first students in universities and institutes within the grades.
"I call for speeding up the formation of the government according to the constitutional timing," Abadi said at his weekly press conference, after saying that "the interference of the parties in the independence of the decision of the state institutions is unacceptable."
He pointed out that the Council of Ministers granted the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research authority to appoint the first students within the grades of the ministry.
Abadi said that "the Council of Ministers discussed today the budget law for the year 2019 in preparation for approval before the end of the year and referred to parliament."
