    US Ambassador to Iraq Douglas Seelman said on Thursday that his country would partner with UNICEF to increase access to clean water for 750,000 people from Basra, saying his country would help organize a water conference sponsored by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers In Basra.

" 

    "To ensure that your government and the international community coordinate in a way that meets the needs of Basra, we are helping to organize a water conference under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers," he said.

    "The United States will provide Iraq with a well-known water expert to advise the Basrah government on project priorities, identify the most important actions and steps to help resolve the water crisis, and accelerate the government's procurement of necessary equipment," he said.
